Tuesday 17th January 2012 at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre.
"While the gospels give no indication whatsoever of what Jesus looked like (tall, short, long-haired or close-cropped, well-built or more rotund?) we all 'know' what Jesus looked like", writes Derek Grasby. We will be exploring the question of the image of Christ in art on this date, and there will be a follow-up meeting at the same time and place on Tuesday 31st January. All are welcome.
REEL FAITH
Watch a film (for free!), discuss it over a light tea, end with a short act of worship! Venue: St Margaret’s Parish Centre (next to St Margaret’s Church)
Sunday 22nd January 2012: ‘The Reader’
This film tells the story of Michael Berg, a German lawyer who as a mid-teenager in 1958 had an affair with an older woman, Hanna Schmitz, who then disappeared only to resurface years later as one of the defendants in a war crimes trial stemming from her actions as a guard at a Nazi concentration camp. Michael realizes that Hanna is keeping a personal secret she believes is worse than her Nazi past—a secret which, if revealed, could help her at the trial.
