Welcome!
I can hardly believe that we are finally here at our opening weekend. I’m sure you will agree that we have a beautiful building, a tribute to the host of people who have worked so hard and with amazing generosity of both time and money. Our thanks go to all those who have, in any way, made this building possible. May we now, with the same enthusiasm and dedication, use this new Parish Centre to enrich our church and community to the glory of God.

My thanks, love and prayers
Rosemarie

The Parish Centre
When it was decided to go ahead with our new Parish Centre, it was felt important that all of St. Margaret’s community should be kept informed of how the project was developing and so our bi-monthly newsletter was born. This has tried to keep every-one up-to-date with the project and provide a vehicle for publicity for all our fund raising events. Contributions from people closely involved in the building work helped to give the newsletter a more personal touch and now all the copies of the newsletter give a picture of how this marvellous new facility has grown from an idea to a finished building.

News from the Building the Future Fundraising Group
A leap of faith by our clergy got our fundraising off to a flying start - with a sponsored parachute jump!

Since then we have held raffles and auctioned promises, sold cakes, plants and jewellery. We have even packed bags in Morrison’s. We have relished “tasty” events - wine tastings, lunches, coffee mornings, even a “Beijing Brunch” - and endured sponsored walks, runs, and slims! We have been entertained by concerts and quizzes, the “Hidden Talents” of St Margaret’s, and, in one evening, by the complete works of Shakespeare. Junior Church designed a miniature Parish Centre in Lego and many have sponsored a stone in the real building.

We have also been grateful for a number of grants and a substantial donation from the sale of the curate’s house. Our immediate target has been reached, and the building is up. Well done everyone!

But there are still loans to repay ……… and the fundraising continues.

The Prayer Group has underpinned the building of the Parish centre since December 2005 and it has not only included fund-raising and finance, wisdom in decision making but even request for good weather! Prayers are also for the on-going running of St. Margaret's, our clergy and the sick. New members are always welcome on our continuing prayers for our Church and the new centre.

An eco-friendly building
Ground source hot water for under floor heating and washing; an underground rainwater harvesting tank for the toilets; recycled glass bottles for high thermal insulation - these are just a few of the ways in which, as far as we can, we have tried to make this lovely building an expression of our Christian concern to respect and treasure the environment of which we are a part.
